A pilot randomised controlled trial evaluating a co-designed personalised cognitive reablement program delivered via digital voice assistants for older adults with early stage dementia or mild cognitive impairment has been published. The study appeared 23 October 2026 in JMIR Aging.
The trial enrolled 30 participants aged 60 to 85 years. Participants were randomised evenly into 15 person intervention and control groups for the 12 week period. Intervention participants and their care partners met with a psychologist to select personalised program goals. Recruitment was conducted via Facebook and the StepUp-for Dementia Research database.
On the same date, CMS noted it will focus on strengthening caregiving public health capacity and exploring non-traditional Medicare lifestyle interventions for dementia.
