Scientist studies effects of Korean red ginseng on uterine leiomyoma growth AI illustrationhow this picture was madeA randomized controlled trial examining effects of Korean red ginseng on uterine leiomyoma is indexed on PubMed and ClinicalTrials.gov as of 2026-11-06 [1].
The trial was double blind and placebo controlled. It was published in the journal Medicine. 69 participants were enrolled. 35 were assigned to Korean red ginseng, 34 to placebo. Follow up ran for 6 months.
61 participants completed the 6 month assessment. All eight participants who did not complete the trial were lost to follow up.
Maximal leiomyoma diameter increased modestly in both groups. No statistically significant between group difference was observed in the change in diameter over the study period. The adjusted mean difference between groups was -0.11 cm, with a 95% confidence interval from -0.33 to 0.12 cm.
The study authors declared no conflicts of interest.
