A post-hoc analysis of the MISTRAL randomized controlled trial published 27 October 2026 found body image distress and weight worries increase in the final six months of life for people with advanced pancreatic cancer. The study appears in Supportive Care in Cancer, and is indexed on PubMed.[1] Researchers analysed data from 125 trial participants, 51.2% of whom were women. Both measured outcomes increased significantly over the observation period. Body image distress had an adjusted beta coefficient of 3.54. Weight worries had an adjusted beta coefficient of 2.98. Michelle Routhenstein, a preventive cardiology dietitian not involved in the study, stated the observed association does not prove cause and effect.[2]
